I am a self taught colored pencil artist and have been drawing for about seven years. I enjoy working with colored pencils as it gives me the opportunity to show the detail that I like. Conversely colored pencil is also a very good medium for "blending" and I derive great satisfaction in building up the layers of color then blending them together in order to obtain the overall effect that I wish to achieve. So much of what I draw are things that my wife and I have seen on our travels in our retirement and particularly the natural world as I feel that there is so much to see, but so often we just walk on by and fail to notice it. I hope that my work encourages people to look more closely at the world about us.
