Leigh Lamkin, the proud owner of Mississippi Candy Company, has fulfilled her lifelong goal of both teaching and owning a candy store. Lamkin exclaims, "I'm living the dream right now." With the doors swinging open just two weeks ago, the response has been nothing short of incredible. The community, whether new residents or interstate travelers, has warmly embraced us, turning our initial days into a whirlwind of excitement.

A Mississippi Delta native, Lamkin made Madison County her home about 20 years ago. Residing in Gluckstadt with her husband Will and three sons, Dayne, Slay, and Scout, Lamkin's commitment to her local roots is unwavering. Having previously owned Livingston Sweet Shop in 2012, Lamkin brings a wealth of experience and a genuine love for the candy business.

"I always wanted to teach school and own a candy store," Lamkin reflects. "After selling Livingston Sweet Shop and working in corporate America for a few years, I was drawn back to my dream of entrepreneurship. Our family lives right here in Gluckstadt, and we wanted to be more involved in the local community. Opening Mississippi Candy Company here was a no-brainer, especially with all the growth happening around us."
