Misuzu kitazumi  was born in Mie, Japan, and has been an active piano player in Los Angeles, Southern California and Northern Arizona. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the California Institute of the Arts and a Master of Music in piano performance from the University of Redlands. Misuzu was selected to perform a piano concerto with the California Institute of the Arts school orchestra in 1997 and is a first prize winner of the Antelope Valley Bach Competition in 1999. She also plays Koto, a Japanese traditional string instrument.
 
As a professional pianist, Misuzu has produced numerous music events and concerts for classical and non-classical music in Los Angeles and is a founder and performer of the Los Angeles Piano Unit, a piano performance group that was created to give attention to unknown and known piano literature. She has also given performances throughout Los Angeles such as, Los Angeles Harbor City College, Aratani Japan-America theater, California Institute of the Arts, Pasadena Library, Glendale library and more.
 
As an educator, Misuzu has taught at Plaza de la Raza, Japanese Language School (Kyodo System), and University of Redlands Community School as part of the music faculty. Many of her students have passed the MTAC (Music Teachers Association of California) Certificate of the Merit exam and competed in Southwestern Youth Music Festival. At Verde Valley School, her students competes in Verde Valley Concert Association Scholarship Competition and Jazz Festival in Phoenix. Her past students includes grammy awarded professional musicians and their children.
 
Misuzu believes that musical appreciation is a lifetime journey that evolves through time and it is her utmost goal to share this passion with her students.
