LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.......

Dear Editor:
Deep snow would be much more difficult without friends with tractors who voluntarily plow driveways for those in need. So grateful for the kindness. Thank you very, very much! We need more people like you in this country.

Recently, I purchased something from an East Coast manufacturer that was to ship my order via USPS. They did. I was provided a tracking number which indicated that the package had been delivered to a parcel box at the Loyalton, CA USPS, just as I instructed. An employee delivered the box to one of their parcel lockers and put the access key into someone else's box. Hey, a mistake was made, I, soon got over it.
The USPS worker indicated that locals who receive parcels erroneously usually return them to be routed to the correct person. My disappointment? After over 3 weeks, nobody has stepped forward and done this. Luckily, my supplier re-filled my order at no charge. I just got it. Between porch pirates in urban areas and postal mistakes, I'm amazed suppliers are able to do this.

This letter is to address the proposed idea of adding past-due water bills on to property taxes which the current City Council and specifically the newest member has decided would be a good idea. Apparently, the rest of the Council has gone along with that proposal.
My position serves many seniors and families who are struggling to pay their growing utility bills, especially the wild escalation in fees from Liberty Utilities. (this subject requires a whole separate letter) Seniors on fixed incomes have seen their supplemental medical insurance rates rise to over $700 for 2 people. Not to mention rising food costs, gasoline prices and just about everything else.
Council has already added a $300 fee to our property taxes despite many residents opposing this added burden. Now the Council wants to add past due water bills on to property taxes. Can this be legal? Council seems to ignore legalities on many occasions to implement their self-interests. The situation the City finds itself in currently comes from many years of corruption and mismanagement which is ongoing. Most people see a bottomless pit of foolish spending. Therefore, there's no trust that this additional money will remedy the problem.
PEOPLE ARE IN DANGER OF LOSING THEIR HOMES!!!!! Many are long time residents who have been contributing members of this community and never asked for a handout.
What a burdensome and outrageous proposal!
