August 25, 2025Just wanted to tell you I so enjoy Mike Filippini's articles. I also enjoyed Ray Giminez's article on the old Loyalton Rodeo Grounds. I absolutely loved the picture of Coburn Lake on the cover of the July Booster as it brought back many memories. The first time I went to Coburn Lake was many, many years ago when I was a young girl. I rode my horse with my friend, Jerry Wallace and her dad, Bob. He was bringing supplies to set up a deer camp. When I was in high school I would go with my dad and boyfriend and on one of our trips I could see this big Brook Trout swimming around where I was fishing. I must have used several jars of Salmon Eggs trying to catch him! I would throw some eggs into the water along with my baited hook and he ate all the eggs but never did take my bait! Lots of precious memories at Coburn Lake! Phyllis Mitchell Loyalton Editor, This goofy redistricting that Tyrant Trump has dreamed up and demanded that Texas apply is crazy. The Republicans should just go back to poll taxes, counting beans in a jar, severe gerrymandering, murder and lynching. I know Southern Democrats did that but it all changed during Nixon's tumultuous tenure. You know all the stuff conservatives have been doing since somebody put in our constitution that black folks were 3/5ths of a human being. When California passed a nonpartisan way of redistricting, I was so proud to be a Californian. It was fair. But that only works when all the states do the same thing. That ain't happening and the southern states are dreaming other nasty things to make it difficult to vote. Well, I am tired of being Mr. Nice guy and getting politicians that despise Democracy! We have got to fix this. California, (giver state) is trying to stop it so we can quit bailing out the loser states with our federal tax dollars every time Texas or Mississippi (taker states) gets constipated. By the way, if you have been stuck in a grain bin for the last 50 years, California, despite, being liberal, highly regulated, and taxed is the FOURTH largest economy in the world.
