Happy Veterans Day!Dear janice, Happy Veterans Day! I talk frequently about how we are working to save our nation. But our work is nothing compared to the sacrifices that our veterans have made for our country. If you are a veteran, thank you so much for your service. If it weren't for the soldiers braving the cold at Valley Forge, storming the beaches of Normandy, traversing the jungles of Vietnam, and all who have ever served, we would not enjoy our Constitutional freedoms. When President Eisenhower declared Veterans Day a federal holiday, he said in his announcement: “On that day let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting an enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain.” This should be our charge: to show our gratitude to our great and brave veterans. We must do everything we can to preserve freedom at home so that our veterans' sacrifices will not be in vain. May God bless you and our veterans.
