Hi Jan,
I saw in the Booster that the plan is to display the old hearse in the auditorium. I am very opposed to that! I think it would take up too much room and certainly spoil the atmosphere in there.
Maybe it could go at the end of the hall way. If not, perhaps it and some of the very large items that are in the old church could stay there, since we are
already limited on space in our " new " building. They could still be seen there as a part of the park.
Hopefully there will be lots more discussion on lots of issues, but I know some things need to be resolved now.
Jackie encouraged me to share my thoughts about this wonderful project, so here is one I feel very strongly about.
My thanks too, to all those responsible for making this community center a reality. It will Truly Be an enhancement to our town.

Dear Jan,
I have kept up with your articles in Booster concerning the plans for uses for the old school and am very upset to think the hearse might be in the auditorium. If I use the auditorium for a festive occasion my guests, whether party for 6 year old or a 90 year or older birthday celebration, would be uncomfortable staring at a “Big old black Hearse”. It is my hope that more than one person has the final word on the placing of it. Putting the hearse there would certainly cause me not to choose that facility for receptions, meetings (CattleWomen for one we meet each month).
The stage, what memories, high school band concerts, 4-H dress reviews with sweet apple blossoms branches for decoration, Sports potluck awards meeting there for my grandchildren…. Graduations for many.
Please let’s keep it as an inviting social auditorium. If other readers share this concern please voice it
immediately before too late as many things are already in the making. Alumnus, which are many, Please let your voice be heard.
Thank You
Respectfully,
Patricia Moore Ramelli

About a month ago, in a Letter to the Editor, I put the challenge out to all alumni who wanted to donate to my "kitchen" project at the old Loyalton Grammar/High, now known as the "Alumni Kitchen". Needless to say, I am grinning from ear to ear with the response I have gotten so far, mostly from folks who live out of the area!
Goes to show, how much this old building means to us. If the donations keep coming in, we would like to expand our efforts into the auditorium and stage area. I would love to see a play there again !
As a reminder, make the checks out to: Annie Terrasas, P.O. Box 839, Loyalton, California, 96118 and in the lower left hand corner "memo" area, put “School Kitchen Project.”
Again, to all of you who have helped us with your donations, Thank You!! We couldn't do it without you!
Annie
